I actually have a funny story regarding a question in the last post’s comments section: we went shopping at this mall called “Shoe Mart” (has a lot more than shoes) and they had this huge independence day sale. “Sale” + Filipinos = 1 million people. Janet lost track of me and I panicked, looking out over a sea of 5′2″ dark skinned, black haired women. I can usually find Janet easily in a crowd…IN THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE. When she found me she was laughing so hard.
Hey Rob, if you and Janet were in Germany, Janet would have a hard time finding you!

Hey Lazo- I enjoyed your “yellow” comment! I always refer to myself as a yellow person (being Vietnamese). I’m married to a blue eyed boy from Iowa named Alan, but who my parents have always referred to in Vietnamese as “the american-white guy” (literal translation of it.) But I’ve got a fun story. Alan’s grandma in Iowa who is over seventy (so different generation, of course) was talking to him once about me and said that I was “white too.” And Alan said, “Grandma, Barbara is not really white.” And she replied- “Well, she’s not black.” And Alan said, “Yes, you’re right Grandma, she certainly isn’t black.” So your system of many colors other than just black and white is actually very sophisticated, I think!
Janet, Robbie, and Babies- Much love to all of you during your adventures!

Hi, Rob and Janet -
Kris and I had a similar experience back when we visited in 2001. We’d like to go visit again soon. Kris, by the way, is in your neck of the woods this weekend. He’s teaching in Sarajevo until Sunday.
Take care,
Nina, possibly the only Filipina resident in Croatia since you left
