Photos that make you cry
We’ve done songs already, how about photos? I must have seen this one captured at a KKK rally in Michigan over a decade ago and still can’t get it out of my mind:

I suppose you could link your photo in the comments section. Either that or post it on your own blog.
i don’t understand what’s going on in the picture…

Myung, the black lady is shielding the white supremacist from getting beat to death.

Myung, a little more here, I searched for this picture b/c where we live right now has heightened my awareness of the disastrous product of ethnic hatred. People need to be more like the lady in this picture. I need to be more like the lady in this picture, taking radical, life-risking steps of love towards my enemies. It makes me very uncomfortable to think about, really.

Hi Rob- I’ve been visiting your blog by way of your sister for a while now. Decided to go ahead and comment as this photo makes me cry. Not literally, figuratively

Oh wow, that’s a good one Tonia. Thanks for posting it! I had some similar ones that were like it but will save them for later. It’s just beautiful.

actually hang on tonia. I’m not sure if i’m looking at a live baby or an aborted one because of where the little hand is connected. Please tell me that it’s the former…

That’s a live baby. They performed an operation in utero for spina bifida. The baby reached out his hand and held the surgeons finger. No, if it was an abortion, I would cry literally.

maybe it’s just a single guy speaking, but i find that picture of the baby scary. maybe i need to experience someone giving birth.

The first photographer I thought of was James Nachtwey. If you haven’t seen the film “War Photographer,” then I suggest you do. I created a blog to respond to this post.
